New Jersey Programmer Awarded $250,000 after Car Accident
In Summer of 2006, a New Jersey computer programmer was rear-ended by another vehicle while stopped at a red light in Hackensack. As a result of the accident, the programmer suffered disc herniations. The computer programmer filed a lawsuit against the other driver of the vehicle alleging negligence. The plaintiff also maintained that he would continue to suffer pain from his injuries sustained in the accident for the remainder of his life.
During arbitration, the plaintiff was awarded $90,000. However, defense requested a trial de novo. As a result of the trial, the jury found that the plaintiff's injuries were proximately caused by the car accident and awarded the plaintiff in the amount of $250,000.
