New Jersey Physician's Wife Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit after Husband is Killed in Accident involving SUV
In Fall of 2005, a middle-aged New Jersey physician was killed when an SUV attempting to park outside his office accidentally accelerated and came chrashing through the office wall. The SUV crushed the physician and as a result died immediately of his sustained injuries. The late physician's wife filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the the driver of the SUV as well as the owner and landlord of the office building alleging negligence.
The plaintiff's lawyer argued that the owner and landlord of the building did not take proper precautions to protect the building from accidents such as this by installing bollards or guard rails in front of the walls. Following three settlement conferences, all parties agreed to an aggregate settlement of $1 million.
